An extract is a preparation method that concentrates ingredients and compounds—in this case, from hemp. Hemp extract consists of phytocannabinoids such as terpenes and flavonoids from the hemp plant biomass.
Below is a list of the concentrations of our hemp extract oils.

17 mg CBD per 1 mL oil
Contains at least 28 mg of hemp extract per 1 mL, providing 17mg of naturally occurring phytocannabinoids

Original Formula
Contains at least 86 mg of hemp extract per 1mL, providing 50mg of naturally occurring phytocannabinoids

60mg/1mL CBD Oil
Contains at least 120 mg of hemp extract per 1 mL, providing 60mg of naturally occurring phytocannabinoids

A number of the Charlotte’s Web products are certified organic, and we are adding more over time. We can proudly say that all our hemp is now grown on certified organic U.S family farms. We have always grown with sustainable organic practices, but now have the official certification at the farm!

Our farms abide by the highest quality standards, and we plant our crop only after the soil and water sources have first been tested extensively. We pledge to never use harsh synthetic pesticides on our plants. If we do need to use plant protection products, which is very, very rare, we ensure that they’re certified organic and will not impact our final product with any residues.

Just having certified organic hemp, however, doesn’t mean our products get to be certified organic. Every step in the manufacturing process must be certified organic as well for an organic seal to be allowed on the bottle. We are working diligently on this, so you could see a few products be certified organic before others are. If you're curious about what products are USDA certified organic, the answer is: some are currently and more will be in the future. Read on to learn more!

The hemp for all our products is grown using organic farming practices. Some products are not able to be USDA Certified Organic due to other ingredients used in production, such as:

Capsules: The hemp extract inside our capsules and the capsule shell are organic It’s only the adhesive that seals the capsules that is currently not organic.

Original Formula: The hemp extract used in our Original Formula is extracted using a different process called isopropyl alcohol (IPA) extraction, which is not eligible for organic certification. We don’t want to change a thing in how we produce that formulation because we know many use it to maintain their wellness. We work closely with our cultivation and science teams to ensure we can constantly improve the products without impacting the extraction profile.

By November 1, 2021 any tinctures formulated with CO2 extracted hemp extract — in all sizes and flavors — will be USDA Certified Organic, but we’ll start shipping them out before then.

Cannabinoids are a group of fatty compounds found in hemp but also produced by other plants and the human body. They are the primary chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant.

Hemp can produce more than 100 different phytocannabinoids naturally. Of the 100+ non-intoxicating phytocannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most widely known. Others include Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabichromene (CBC), Cannabinol (CBN) and, more.

Charlotte's Web full-spectrum extracts tap a unique assortment of hemp's phytocannabinoids, plus terpenes, flavonoids, and other valuable hemp compounds to help support the body. *

Cannabinoids interact directly or indirectly with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is present in all living beings except insects.

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a collection of cell receptors within a mammal's body. Scientists discovered this system in the 1990s.

Phytocannabinoids work with the mammalian Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a vast receptor system that helps support homeostasis and overall good health. * This receptor system exists throughout the entire body, including the immune system, the central nervous system, and within many organs. The ECS accepts our body’s self-produced endocannabinoids as well as the phytocannabinoids found in hemp.

The ECS is designed to support cells and healthy immune system function, in reaction to fluctuations in our external environment. * A human's ECS affects many regions of the body, including functions of the immune system, the central nervous system (including the brain), organs, connective tissue, and glands.

The ECS supports various biological tasks, including energy & balance, immune function, memory, metabolism, sleep, and the function of the autonomic nervous system. *

Charlotte's Web™ products are full-spectrum extracts that include a range of beneficial compounds found in hemp, including phytocannabinoids and other phytocompounds (such as terpenes and flavonoids) that work to support your body’s endocannabinoid system.

Supplementing with cannabinoids from plants (phytocannabinoids) can support our body’s endocannabinoids, and the ECS's major receptors, CB1 and CB2. This helps to maintain proper balance. *

The Entourage Effect is a phrase coined in 1998 by two Israeli scientists to describe their findings that taking a range of natural compounds found in cannabis is more beneficial than just taking a single molecule compound alone.

Charlotte's Web products are full-spectrum extracts that include a variety of phytochemicals. These beneficial compounds include a range of phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

Cannabidiol or CBD for short, is non- intoxicating phytocannabinoid. Phytocannabinoids are chemical compounds found in hemp plants. There are over 100 different phytocannabinoids that can be found in hemp.

Research shows significant potential for phytocannabinoids to support general health & wellness. *

Hemp Oil is the essential oil produced from the leaves, buds, and stem of the hemp plant. Hemp oil can be extracted by both mechanical and chemical means. In the extraction process, the oil retains a range of the phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found naturally in hemp. Oil that comes from only the seeds of hemp—hemp seed oil—does not include all of the same plant compounds and is primarily composed of dietary fats.

Charlotte's Web is a full-spectrum hemp extract with a full spectrum of phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Phytocannabinoids are phyto-compounds produced by the hemp plant. Cannabinoids work with the mammalian Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a vast receptor system to support homeostasis. * The ECS accepts our body’s internal endocannabinoids as well as the phytocannabinoids found in hemp.

Charlotte's WebTM products do not need to be refrigerated, but if you prefer to take it when chilled, you can store it in the fridge without it impacting anything. We recommend storing your item where the bottle isn't exposed to constant light and/or heat. For further questions, please contact our Customer Care team at [email protected] or call us at 1-855-790-8169.

Charlotte’s Web™ hemp extract tinctures come with a dropper for easy use. Keeping the dropper clean and void of any bacteria is essential for your health and the preservation of the hemp extract. If you choose to use the dropper for oral application of our hemp extracts, take special care to keep it from coming into contact with your mouth. It is recommended that you clean the dropper after each use with an alcohol swab to ensure proper storage.

Much like the consumption of poppy seeds may lead to a positive drug test for opioids, the consumption of certain hemp products may lead to a positive drug test for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is inherently present in trace amounts in hemp plants. The legal limit of THC in hemp is no more than 0.3%.

Furthermore, the underlying science behind the conversion of certain cannabinoids, for example cannabidiol (CBD), when consumed, to other related cannabinoids, like THC, is not yet fully understood. Although the risk is low, individual biochemistry, the possibility of conversion of cannabinoids, and the possibility of trace, but legal, amounts of THC inherent in hemp products, we strongly suggest consulting your healthcare provider before consuming any hemp products if you are subject to drug testing.

Please visit the Retailer Signup page and follow the instructions. If you are approved, a Charlotte's Web representative will contact you.

There should be none if following the suggested serving amounts. If too much hemp extract oil is given to a dog, then temporary drowsiness may occur. Additionally, too much oil, not hemp extract, can cause dogs to have an upset stomach and potential diarrhea. Stick to the recommended serving sizes to ensure a happy pup!

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is a mighty phytocannabinoid found in hemp and known for supporting the body and mind in various ways. *

CBD specifically, comes from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. (Not to be confused with hemp seed oil that comes from hemp seeds and contains no cannabinoids.)

Why it works: The human body has a vast network of receptors, called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which helps us maintain overall wellness and keeps many of our physical processes moving in the right direction. CBD works with those receptors, helping to keep us in good health. * Learn more about the endocannabinoids system.

The dropper on 30mL bottles holds .5mL of hemp extract oil.

The dropper on 100mL bottles holds 1mL of hemp extract oil.

Dropper use: Gently squeeze the rubber end and release. Oil will not fill the entire dropper. The dropper will usually be about half full, which indicates a "full dropper."

An accurate fill of any given bottle will vary visually.

This variation is due to small shape differences between bottles in their glass molds during manufacture and variation in hardening of the flowable glass. It is for these reasons that we now have inline fill checks using volume measurements to confirm the accurate fill level of bottles by the Capmatic machine throughout the run. If you were to just look at bottles, all with the same fill level, you would see some variation which would indicate the variation of bottle interior shapes, and subtle variation in the fill. We set the Capmatic to overfill slightly so that no single bottle falls below the designated fill volume of 5 mL, 30 mL, or 100 mL.

The 30mL bottles contain 30 1mL servings.The dropper on all 30mL bottles holds .5mL of oil.

The 100mL bottles contain 100 1mL servings. The dropper on all 100mL bottles holds 1mL of oil.

Yes, products that are made with ingredients grown in nature sometimes vary slightly from batch to batch. Our products are not made with any additives or dyes to standardize the color. You’re left with 100% natural CBD oil—the way nature intended. If you experience a color difference from product to product that is due to the natural, seasonal variation in our hemp crops. We thoroughly test each batch to ensure that the amount of hemp extract stays consistent in each product.

Charlotte's Web is the brand name for products originally developed by our founders. All Charlotte's Web™ products include full-spectrum hemp extracts from Charlotte's Web™ proprietary hemp varieties. The extracts contain a unique blend of cannabinoids plus terpenes and flavonoids.

Our History

Charlotte’s Web is known as the CBD industry pioneer and market leader.

Many people know Charlotte’s Web because of Charlotte Figi. At a very early age, Charlotte was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy. Her mother, Paige, extensively researched health options that led her to a little-known plant compound called cannabidiol, or CBD.

Meanwhile, our founders were working to develop proprietary hemp genetics that were high in CBD and low in THC.

In 2012, her mother Paige contacted our founders looking for a non-psychoactive natural alternative for her then five-year-old daughter Charlotte. After seeing Charlotte’s response to the extract, our founders were inspired to share their extract with others.

This company didn’t start as a company. It started as a mission to help others. Starting with one little girl. From 2013 to 2015 thousands of families from around the world moved to Colorado to access CBD products to improve their quality of life.

In many cases, employees of Charlotte’s Web, our founders themselves, their mother, Charlotte’s family, and others joined together to help these families get settled, and in some cases, opening their homes as temporary housing.

In 2013, Dr. Sanjay Gupta (CNN) meets Charlotte and other families and famously changes his mind on the health benefits of cannabis; reversing course and speaking out in favor of Charlotte’s Web and the inherent benefits of hemp. Other media outlets follow suit and Charlotte’s Web becomes an internationally recognized brand.

Charlotte’s Web, Inc. is now a family of brands that includes the CBDMEDICTM, CBD CLINICTM, and Harmony HempTM brands.
